2025 MSU Tech Transfer Achievement Award-Bruno Basso’s Crop Yield Modeling System

April 18, 2025

At the 2025 Innovation Celebration hosted by Michigan State University on April 1, Dr. Bruno Basso was honored with the prestigious Tech Transfer Achievement Award for his pioneering contributions to sustainable agriculture. The event, which drew over 460 attendees and showcased innovations from across the MSU community, recognized Basso’s development of GeoYields technology—a digital crop modeling system that simulates plant growth and environmental conditions to guide smarter, more sustainable farming practices. As a John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor, Basso has spent over two decades advancing tools that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve crop yields, and transform land management decisions. His work laid the foundation for CIBO Technologies, an MSU startup that commercializes these innovations globally using advanced remote sensing and predictive analytics. By integrating disciplines from biophysics to atmospheric science, Basso’s efforts continue to bridge academic research with real-world impact, shaping the future of agriculture and sustainability on a global scale.
